The South Paw
The first left handed guitar on the bench and hopefully the first of many! Also an ESP LTD EC1000 Deluxe… I’ve owned a number of these in my time and they are awesome guitars.
The owner of this guitar had sent me a list of all the issues he had with the guitar so it was easy on my part to do an assessment! Check through his list and make any additional amendments along the way. Luckily, his list was thorough and I didn’t find any additional issues.
Now that the assessment is over, let’s get to work. Remove the strings from the locking machine heads and release the locking tune-o-matic bridge and locking stop bar.
With the strings and hardware off the guitar, it’s time to dig into it and give it a deep clean. This one in particular needed a lot of sweat, dirt and some blood removed (punk rock guitars really take a beating!).
Now the body’s clean, it’s time to take on the fretboard… if you’ve read through my other posts you know the drill! Steel wool to clean the board, oil to hydrate the wood, lots of different grit sandpaper to clean up those frets!
Finally, 10-52 fender bullets to go on the guitar and it’s ready for a set up. It’s hard to a test a south paw as a right handed player, but we got there. and
